My New Hair Care Routine
I inherited my mother's hair. In a few words, our hair is unmanageable, thick, wavy, and multicolored. I take a shower every day in an attempt to detangle and prevent oil buildup. Chrissy Teigen told me in a commercial once to condition first, then shampoo to preserve volume. Being 15, I implemented it into my haircare routine without a second thought. Now that I'm 20, I've come to realize that this method is not good for combing tangles out of your hair.
| 28 Inches of Hair |
I measured my hair in this photo. The tape measure begins at my scalp which is why it looks too long. My hair measured in at 28 inches, almost 2.5 feet! This is my beginning picture at the very start of this new process. I'm looking for changes in length, shine, color, and texture.
Before getting in to the shower, I now brush my hair all the way through. I learned from TikTok user @golabbeauty that your hair is most fragile when wet.
After wetting my hair, I use my normal shampoo with a few drops of rosemary oil. Rosemary oil stimulates hair growth. I have started to use a clarifying shampoo once every two weeks as well to get rid of oil buildup. I've also started using a scalp massager to stimulate blood flow.
Next. I squeeze all the water out of my hair to get it as dry as possible. I then comb conditioner into the ends of my hair. Conditioning wet hair makes you waste product, and I've saved a lot of money by squeezing water out first. I use a wide-toothed comb to make sure there are no tangles.
